Spirit of Obi-Wan #69736 STAR WARS THE POWER OF THE FORCE Frito-Lay Exclusive (Kenner) 1997 Spirit of Obi-Wan is an exclusive action figure of the legendary Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, also known as Ben Kenobi, from the Star Wars franchise. The transparent figure depicts Obi-Wan as a Force ghost, a translucent blue apparition that can communicate with living Jedi. The figure was released in 1997 by Kenner, as part of the Power of the Force collection, and was only available through a mail-away offer for a short time requiring two proofs of purchase from Frito-Lay’s Potato Chips. This depiction of Obi-Wan was released a year later as a part of the Cinema Scene series multi-packs that came with Force Spirits figures of Anakin Skywalker and Yoda, however those figures contained a light white paint application that differentiates them from this exclusive version. The figure stands 3.75 inches tall and comes in a white mailer box. Obi-Wan Kenobi was a Force-sensitive human who became one of the most powerful and respected Jedi in the galaxy. He was the apprentice of Qui-Gon Jinn, the master of Anakin Skywalker, and the mentor of Luke Skywalker. He fought in the Clone Wars, a galactic conflict between the Republic and the Separatists, and witnessed the rise of the evil Galactic Empire and the fall of his former pupil to the dark side of the Force. He went into hiding on the desert planet of Tatooine, where he watched over Luke, the son of Anakin and the last hope of the Jedi. He sacrificed himself in a duel with Darth Vader, and became one with the Force. He continued to guide Luke through the Force, helping him to destroy the Empire and redeem his father. STAR WARS THE POWER OF THE FORCE was a toy line produced by Hasbro from 1995 to 2000, featuring characters, vehicles, and accessories from the original trilogy and the Expanded Universe. It was the first Star Wars action figure collection since the vintage line ended in 1985. The initial figures had a muscular look that was later toned down for more movie accuracy. The packaging design changed over the years, from orange to green to hologram to freeze frame. The toy line was well received by collectors and fans, and introduced many new characters and variations to the Star Wars universe. "Made" is printed on the mailer box line "Made in China" rather than a sticker on some boxes. See chart below for grading guide.
