This is a complete set of eight French-Canadian released Star Wars Power of the Force action figures. Set includes: Darth Vader - long saber variant Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi - short saber variant Luke Skywalker - short saber variant Han Solo - standard variant Stormtrooper C-3PO Chewbacca R2-D2 What makes this set especially rare is the Darth Vader figure. During the original production of these figures, there were constant communication errors between Kenner and Lucasfilm. This set captures their struggles in creating the perfect sized light saber for each Jedi. There were ultimately three different variations of lightsabers released with these figures. 1) the long saber edition, which Lucasfilm deemed to be disproportionately long, which led to the change to the short saber editions (which would eventually become standard); 2) the rarest variant was produced in which the short saber was placed in the long saber package (eventually the package was shortened to fit the short saber); 3) the now standard variant, which featured the short saber in the short saber package. This set features Darth Vader in the original long saber variant figures, which are especially hard to find in the foreign releases. Also included in this set are Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the short saber variant to showcase the different sizes. There is much discussion whether this POTF card series is "Red" or "Orange." After all, some look red, some look orange, and some look both. According to the only official Star Wars Archive published by Lucasfilm, LTD., the official name for the POTF cards listed here are called: "Red Cards." Star Wars: The Power of the Force, also known as Power of the Force 2, was Hasbro/Kenner's first Star Wars action figure collection since Kenner's "Vintage" line ended a decade earlier in 1985. It was released from 1995 to 2000. These red card POTF figures were released in a set of 8 between 1995 and 1996. They were also released in multiple different languages to be released in multiple countries, including Canada (French-Canadian), Italy (Italian), America (English), and a more generalized version which was released with all of the major European languages on one cardback. The initial line was characterized by a muscular look typical of boys' toy lines of the time. This bulked-up aesthetic was toned down as the line continued and was phased out by 1998 in favor of a more movie-accurate look. Enjoy a risk-free purchase with our 60-day free returns policy .
